Latest data from the Hainan Ocean & Fishery Bureau shows that the total length of coastline across Hainan Island reaches 1,822 km including 1,226 km in natural coastline and 596.3km in artificial coastline, reports hainan.net.

The new revised coastline length has more 300km than the previous figure of 1,528 km, says an official with the Hainan Provincial Ocean & Fishery Office.

Wenchang City has the longest coastline on the whole island. The total length of Wenchang’s coastline is 278.5km, followed by Danzhou (267.3 km) and Sanya (258.6 km).
