Tourism revenues of Hainan hits RMB5.69b in 1st quarter of 2011
The tourist destination of Sanya in South China's island province of Hainan reported 5.69 billion yuan ($876.2 million) in tourism revenues for the first quarter of this year.
The city's statistics bureau reported that 2.95 million tourists visited the city during the first quarter. More than 95 percent of them spent more than one day in the city.
Hainan is a renowned island vacation destination in China. The Chinese government announced a plan in January 2010 to build the island into a top international tourism destination by 2020.
