As an important project of Hainan's industrial development strategy during the 12th Five-Year Plan period, the Hainan Ecological Software Park recently opened in the Laocheng Industrial Park of Chengmai County. It is expected that the output value of the park will exceed 10 billion yuan by the end of the 12th Five-Year Plan period.

The Hainan Provincial Government and the China Electronics Corporation signed a strategic cooperation agreement on the information industry and information technology in June 2007 and decided to establish the Hainan Ecological Software Park to intensively develop the information industry.

According to the plan, the Hainan Ecological Software Park would cover an area of 2 million square meters and its construction officially began in 2009. Currently, the general construction area of the park has exceeded 200,000 square meters and a total of 155 enterprises, including Neusoft, ChinaSoft, Microsoft Technology Center, the Great Wall Information Industry Company and Hewlett-Packard have settled in the park.

In addition, the output value of the park reached nearly 1.4 billion in 2010.
