China's first national space-theme park will be built in Wenchang City, Hainan Province. The whole construction is scheduled to be completed by 2013, reports xinhuanet.com.

 

The Hainan Space Theme Park is a strategic cooperating project jointly invested by the Hainan Government and China Aerospace International Holdings Limited with an investment of 12 billion yuan. Covering a total area of 6,048 hectares, the Hainan Space Theme Park will consist of three functional areas. They are Hainan space theme park area, space and aerospace business service area and space living support area.

 

According to the design, the space theme park construction will include an  Earth, Moon, Mars and Sun exhibition section, visitor areas within the launch site, on-site launch viewing area and space botanical garden.

 

Besides, main building facilities will include 4D Motion Theater, IMAX Dome Theater, firing simulator and China Aerospace Exhibition Center.

 

The Hainan Space Theme Park will be a center for space science aiming to educate youngsters who want to be closer to all things related to space. Upon its completion, it will provide 4,000 job opportunities and is expected to attract 1.75 million tourists in its opening year.
