Sanya to open 15 more international direct air routes in 2019
Fifteen more international air routes are expected to be opened between Sanya and destinations in Europe, Oceania, and America in 2019, according to the Sanya Sea Defense and Port Affairs Bureau.
In 2019, Sanya will further develop its existing traditional tourist source markets by intensifying flights to destinations in Russian-speaking countries as well as the cities of Seoul and Taichung. Sanya will also work to open routes linking Sanya with Taiwan’s Kaohsiung, Japan’s Osaka, and South Korea’s Muan.
Meanwhile, Sanya will seek to expand its air transit network in South Asia, Oceania, the Middle East, and Northern Europe. The city will also make the existing Delhi-Guangzhou-Sanya transit route into a direct air route in 2019, and promote the launch of more international direct air routes linking Sanya with the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, and Norway.
Additionally, in an effort to tap emerging tourism markets, Sanya is considering expanding its air network to Frankfurt, Paris, Amsterdam, Los Angeles, Kiev, Riga, Ulaanbaatar, Manila, Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, and other routes in 2019.
Sanya now has international air routes connecting the city to 15 countries and regions, including 34 international direct air routes, 3 transit air routes, and 6 international intensified air routes.
