The trees that will be relocated from Haikou Binhai Park to Century Park

Haikou has begun temporarily transplanting near 300 coconut trees and banyan trees in Haikou Binhai Park to Haikou Century Park since March 3rd, as the construction of Hainan Youth Center is to kick off in Binhai Park, reports hinews.cn.

The 1st-phase project of the Hainan Youth Centre, which covers an area of 5,466 square metres, will take one year to be completed with an investment of 120 million yuan.

According to the spokesperson for the Hainan Youth Centre, the construction will only take a small potion of the land used in Binhai Park.

In order to ensure the tree survival, the Municipal Bureau of Parks and Gardens of Haikou will dispatch a professional team to inflict minimum damage on the trees during the transplantation and try to preserve the original state of Binhan Park.

Upon completion, some of the trees will be transplanted back to create a more beautiful Binhai Park in the future.
