Boeing 787 Dreamliner to help Hainan Airlines tap North America market
Hainan Airlines Co., Ltd., the fourth largest carrier by fleet size in the Chinese mainland, has received its seventh Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft, the company announced Sunday.
The plane arrived on Saturday in Haikou, capital of the southernmost Hainan Province and the airline’s headquarters. It will be operating on the North American routes to increase the frequency of the airline’s services from Beijing to Seattle, Toronto and Chicago.
The carrier, which is the second Chinese airlines flying Boeing 787, has ordered 10 Dreamliners. With the new comer, the airline now possesses 500 aircraft.
The airline also announced to launch services on new routes from Beijing to Boston and other North American destinations on June 20.
Hainan Airlines provides more than 600 domestic and international flight routes to over 190 cities, carrying about 55 million passengers annually.
China Southern Airlines received its first Dreamliner in June 2013, making it the first Chinese carrier with the model.
