Macau comes second as the best emerging destination in Asia for the convention, exhibition and incentive travel industry (MICE).

According to CEI, a leading title in the industry, Vietnam remains a destination to watch for event planners, taking out the first prize award for the second year in a row.

Macau, it said, "had an interesting year, with the resumption of the 6,000-room Sands China project on the Cotai Strip, and the opening of a new Mandarin Oriental".

"In addition, the House of Dancing Water opened at City of Dreams and the city experienced a boom in Indian and Korean MICE groups," it added.

Hainan Island ranked third place, continuing to attract strong MICE business from China.
