The second phase of the Sanya Phoenix Island Int’l Cruise Terminal is expected to start construction this July, according to the relevant department.

The second phase construction project sees the addition of a 100,000-ton-level dock, a 250,000-ton-level dock and two 150,000-ton-level docks to the terminal.

The terminal has received over 20 of the world’s international luxury cruise liners since its opening in 2007, bringing more than 580,000 cruise passengers and putting it first on the list for the cruise passenger throughput.

On June 18th, the Italian luxury cruise ship ‘Costa Atlantica’ called at Sanya Port, bringing more than 1,400 European and American tourists to Sanya during the visit.

As of now, international cruise liners are confirmed to depart from and call at the terminal 312 times in 2013. The only 80,000-ton-level dock can hardly meet the increasing demand.
