TO promote the sport of windsurfing, Shangri-La Hotel, Haikou, which opened at the end of 2012, presents the Windsurfing Experience Package, available from May 1 to Sept. 30.

The package starts at 1,388 yuan per room per night and includes a one-night stay in a Deluxe Sea View Room, with daily buffet breakfast (an additional charge of 245 yuan per night applies for double occupancy, use of windsurf equipment for two hours and a professional one-on-one windsurfing lesson, with lessons for additional people at 100 yuan each); transfer between the hotel and Xixiu Beach Windsurfing Center; a signature cocktail at Lobby Lounge; access to the hotel gymnasium, indoor heated swimming pool, outdoor swimming pool, outdoor natural hot spring pool and steam room; and a 20-percent discount on massages at CHI, The Spa at Shangri-La.

The Xixiu Beach Windsurfing Center, located on Haikou’s western coast, is just a 10-minute drive from Shangri-La Hotel, Haikou. It is one of the best sailing board training bases in Asia. Its geographic conditions and natural resources, such as subtropical weather, stable winds, beach access and an excellent reef, make it the perfect place for windsurfing activities, attracting professionals and recreational windsurfing aficionados.

This unique experience is not only for leisure travelers. Shangri-La Hotel, Haikou also is incorporating the activity into its meeting package. Meeting or event attendees can opt for the windsurfing activity during their stay in the hotel. The Xixiu Beach Windsurfing Center can handle groups of up to 50 people.

The seaside Shangri-La Hotel, Haikou has 377 guest rooms and suites. Each room offers a sea view and WiFi access. In the middle of the 10-story, U-shaped main building is a lush tropical garden spanning 30,000 square meters and connected to the beach. There are three additional buildings: the three-story Grand Villa, with seven suites and rooms; the 200-square-meter Hall of Splendor, which is a perfect venue for seaside weddings and cocktail receptions; and the two-story Sirena, a restaurant specializing in Italian cuisine.

Aside from Sirena, food and beverage outlets include Shang Palace, cafe Kool, Lobby Lounge and Pool Bar. Shangri-La Hotel, Haikou, offers 2,400 square meters of meeting and banquet space and comprehensive recreational facilities including natural outdoor hot springs and a heated indoor swimming pool, children’s pool, steam room and more.
