April 21st is chosen as the “Planet 21 Day” by Accor Hotels Group. On this day, Pullman Sanya Yalong Bay Resort & Spa advocated their staff to planet Bougainvillea around their dormitory in Yalong Bay. Bougainvillea, the triangle shaped purple pink flower, is also known as the City Flower of Sanya.

In total, Pullman Sanya Yalong Bay Resort & Spa planted 200 Bougainvillea, arranged by two lines along the yard of Yalong Bay dormitory. The action is to build up the green and beautiful environment for our daily life and to arouse people’s attention to environment protection, as well as to keep the commitment to Accor’s “Planet 21” program.

Accor’s planet 21 Program is the 21 commitments Accor Hotels have made to act together for the well-being of our world.  The name of Planet 21 refers to Agenda 21, the action plan adopted by 173 Heads of State at the 1992 Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro.  It also echoes the urgent need to focus efforts in the 21st century to change our production and consumption patterns with the goal of protecting our planet, its people and their environment.

Besides “Planet 21 Day” action, Pullman Sanya Yalong Bay Resort & Spa also has other commitments to Planet 21 program. For example, the resort keeps recycle bins for paper, battery, etc. There are little notes on every electronic button to remind staff and guests to turn off the lights when it’s not necessary. The hotel also involves environment-friendly waste management system in the daily operation.
