Sanya star-rated hotels are launching promotion programs with different discounts on offer, to boost hotel occupancy during the April to September low season.

Since mid March, the occupancy rates of most star-rate hotels in Yalong Bay, Sanya Bay and Dadonghai have dropped 50%.

As an emerging tourist resort, Haitang Bay often sees low occupancy rates of less than 30%, according to a staff member of Sheraton Sanya Haitang Bay Resort.

On the other hand, hotels in the central downtown area are experiencing relatively high occupancy rates in the offseason and some even reach 70%. Hotels in this area mostly earn from room sales by individuals or MICE tourists.

Many hotels are offering price discounts to attract visitors. A standard sea view room for 2 nights and 3 days in Narada Resort & Spa Sanya has been lowered to 2,350 yuan. What’s more, a deluxe room in the Grand Fortune Bay Hotel, Sanya is only priced at 898 yuan.
