Singapore overtakes Hong Kong as the most favoured destination for Hainan tourists in 2010
The number of Hainan inbound & outbound tourists in 2010 reached 832,000, up 22.1% over the same period last year. The number of mainland inbound & outbound tourists hit 100,000, ran increase of 54.8% compared with the same period in 2009, according to the Hainan Exit-Entry of Public Security Administration Bureau.
Singapore has become the most favoured outbound tourist destinations for Hainan tourists, followed by Malaysia, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macao and Vietnam, according to the bureau.
Besides, tourists from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan to Hainan have kept a stable growth. In 2010, Taiwan tourist arrivals exceeded 56,000, an increase of 21.3% over the same period in 2009.
The bureau authorities attributed the outbound tourism boom to mutual trade activities, economic stability of neighboring countries and the improving living standards of Hainan residents.
