Unlike in previous years, the hotel occupancy rate in Sanya increased 30% on Feb.24, the Chinese Lantern Festival, with most of the extra guests staying in four and five-star hotels.

Room rates have declined by 50% across star-rated hotels in Sanya after the seven-day Spring Festival holiday. Besides, prices for flights from Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and other cities to Sanya have been reduced by 30% to 40%, which is leading to significant savings in quotations for group travel and independent travel.

According to Ctrip.com, the number of tourists visiting scenic cities during the week after the Spring Festival holiday increased by nearly 40% compared with last year, and the number of tourists visiting Sanya is even greater than during the Spring Festival travel peak.

Most of them are white-collar tourists who postponed their Sanya travel plans until after the seven-day holiday.
