A two-day tour by cruise ship to Xisha Islands is expected to cost tourists 10,000 yuan after the Hainan government approved the launch of a cruise tour for tourists to travel to the island, an expert has stated.

Considering the small area and vulnerable ecological environment, the Xisha Island tourism is positioned as middle to high-end tourism, said the Mr. Chen Yao, the Inspector of Hainan Tourism Development Commission. He also added that the number of tourists visiting the island will be strictly limited for environmental protection.

Sightseeing, sea fishing and diving are the most characteristic tourist activities that the island can offer apart from tasting the fresh locally sourced seafood aboard the ship.

So since last year, relevant departments have been working on plans for cruise tourism to Xisha Island and now the route has been confirmed and will run from Haikou or Sanya to the north reefs of Xisha Islands operated by the cruise ship ‘Coconut Princess’.

The Secretary of the Hainan Government, Mr Luo Baoming, has said that the Xisha Islands are now gearing up for the cruise tours and they are considering a date to mark the occasion.
