After the annual Spring Festival, hotels in Sanya are facing a labor shortage that plagues them at this time of the year as they try to recruit more staff to expand business.

A survey shows the labor shortages the hotels face are mostly in the gardening, security, engineering and housemaid departments.

Apart from hotels, the labor shortage is also expanding to other tourist-related sectors, especially scenic spots, which are facing a great shortfall of security guards, salespersons, scenic spot narrators and gardening workers.

On Feb.10, over 30 star-related hotels attended a job fair with employees seeking between 40 and 84. 98 companies provided more than 1,000 positions but reported only about 100 possible employees attended.
