Smart Wi-Fi Hidden in walls of rooms in Mandarin Oriental Sanya
Mandarin Oriental’s flagship hotel in New York has had some smart Wi-Fi installed. Ruckus Wireless has installed their systems at the prestigious hotel which overlooks central park. The system is in every room and means that Smart Wi-Fi is now installed in seven of the hotels in the chain.
The Tokyo, Jakarta, Manila, Hong Kong and Sanya already have the Wi-Fi system by one of the most innovative companies and now they have installed the system in the London hotel as well. It has been incorporated in to wall outlets meaning that the guests get good coverage and the fact that they are demanding a good service and speed has been addressed. It means that they now have a system that they can improve without having to break open the walls and have major construction going on in the hotels.
The director of information technology at Mandarin Oriental, New York, Oscar Gomez, explained that guests want high speeds and easy usage because of iphones and ipads and their old system could not cope with this big increase in demand which is why they decided to install the new system. The housekeepers even use iTouch systems and so they need to have good Wi-Fi too. This enables them to track the tasks they have done meaning that they do not disrupt guests so much when they are doing their job. Since installing the system they have seen user activity triple and the complaints with regards to the wireless system have dropped by 85%.
