Farewell from Jean-Pierre Mainardi, GM of Hilton Sanya
After four extremely enriching and memorable years at Hilton Sanya Resort & Spa, I was offered to take up another challenge for Hilton Worldwide in Lebanon…
That is to convert two existing hotels into two Hilton’s hotels in Beirut. One of which is a boutique and the other a full service property offering 400 rooms all together.
I have accepted this posting and will leave on December 15, 2011. The main reason for my move is to be closer in proximity to my family in Scotland, where my wife Edith and I would like to be easily accessible to our daughter France who is studying in Edinburgh.
However, I must share with you, that my decision did not come easy to me. Needless to say, the affinity I feel towards Sanya is of closeness and familiarity. Sanya has not only been my home during these four years but I also have been working closely with our clients, the local Government authorities and all my fellow GMs along Yalong Bay hotels. I have experienced the growth of all our businesses, development of infrastructure, witnessed the ‘mushrooming’ of many (too many) new hotels on the island.
For all that I have personally experienced, the past four years will remain forever in my memory as one of the most enjoyable places to work. The people of Hainan , as the many who have come from all over China to live and work in Hainan; are humbling, gentle and joyful in nature and whom I have come to admire and respect.
It has been an honor for me to manage the Hilton Sanya Resort & Spa, a great hotel which is established and recognized as one of the best properties in Sanya. I share with you the continued spirit and pride in that to carry on to all your future successes for this hotel.
I wish to thank you so much again and I trust you will welcome the new GM with open hearts as you have done for me and my family.
