724 people took the Haikou-Chengdu non-stop train on Friday as the first batch of passengers, reports hndnews.com.

724 passengers aboard the train No.K468, which set off in Haikou at 6:40 pm Friday. They arrived at Chengdu at 8:17am on the third day.

The new rail line cover a total distance of 2,182 kilometers and the time duration is 38 hours and 7 minutes.

Apart from the current lines from Hainan to some major cities like Shanghai, Beijing and Guangzhou, the opening of the new rail lines sets up a bridge connecting Sanya and the southwest Chinese cities especially Guangxi, Guizhou, Sichuan and Chongqing.
 
The railway’s construction is an important step by the government and of great significance to improve Hainan’s transportation system, promote the economic and social development for the ongoing construction of Hainan International Tourism Island.
