Haikou Meilan Airport named China’s ‘Best Regional Airport’ by Skytrax
Skytrax said that some 50.9 million passengers traveled through HKIA in 2010, connecting to approximately 160 destinations, with about 900 flights each day by over 95 airlines. It is the third busiest international passenger airport in the world.
Beijing Capital International Airport was ranked fifth on the list, up from last year’s eighth. Now ranked as the second largest airport in the world by passenger traffic, BCIA secured the award as Best Airport China in 2011. Whilst responses were split between three terminals, passengers particularly praised the level of customer service, with the highest ratings being achieved by Terminal 3.
Elsewhere in China the island of Hainan scored a success, with Haikou Meilan Airport being named winner of the Best Regional Airport in China award. Set in semi-tropical surroundings, its customer satisfaction ratings demonstrated a considerable improvement during 2010 to allow Haikou to secure this award. BCIA scored further successes, picking up the award for Best Airport Washrooms.
The nine-month-long customer survey attracted more than 11.387 million participants of over 100 different nationalities in 2010/2011, and covered more than 240 airports worldwide.
