Air ticket prices have shown some significant changes after the peak traveling season of the first week of Spring Festival, according to the Sichuan Daily.

Ticket prices from Chengdu to domestic travel spots such as Sanya and Guilin have been slashed by a 50% discount.

For travel after 15 February, greater discounts can be expected.

On the other hand, it remains expensive to fly to cities such as Shanghai, Beijing, Guangzhou and Shenzhen, as prices show a mere 20% discount. Most flights are fully booked due to the returning flow of workers from Sichuan and other major labour exporting provinces.

However, flight prices to few popular travel destinations have not fallen at this point, in the cases of Lijiang and Hangzhou.

Shao Jihong, Director of Operations at the Ctrip travel portal said travelers who wish to be on the go during the off-peak season should look out for the great deals.

"From Shanghai to Nanchang, tickets are as low as RMB100. From Shanghai to Qingdao, Beijing to Qingdao and Guangzhou to Changsha, there are also fares around RMB100," she added.
