Sanya Marriott Resort & Spa received a prestigious award for its commitment to running and operating an environmentally conscious resort: The Five Gold Leaf Grade ‘China Green Hotel’ for 2010-2014.

Awarded by the National Green Hotel Committee and China Hotel Association, which are the highest official entities for recognizing a hotel’s contribution toward environmental conservation, greening programs, food safety and hygiene, and energy efficiency, the award reflects Sanya Marriott Resort & Spa’s long standing commitment to the environment. In order to reduce, reuse and recycle, in the last five years the popular beach resort has:

Installed more than 10,000 low energy light bulbs to save electrical energy.

Introduced an environmentally friendly irrigation system that has provided 300,008m3 of recycled water annually which is used for watering its spacious landscaped tropical gardens.

Taken advantage of Sanya’s sunny climate to generate 30,227m3 of hot water from Solar Water Heaters, equal to an18 ton reduction in carbon emissions.

Purchased as much local produce as possible from companies that champion sustainable business practices and are environmentally friendly organizations.

Firmly committed to Marriott’s ‘Nobility of Nature’ initiative which was launched globally on 24th May 2010.
