Hainan’s latest visa waiver programme brings tourism boom to Sanya
Hainan’s visa-free policy for 26 countries has effectively boosted Sanya’s international tourism.
In the first half of this year, the number of international flights at Sanya Phoenix International Airport has increased by 127% over the same period last year, reports www.hinews.cn.
Among the 26 countries, 5 countries are newly added onto the name list of visa-free countries this year, including Finland, Denmark, Norway, Ukraine, and Kazakhstan.
Besides, tourist teams from Russia, South Korea, and Germany will have the privilege of staying for 21 days longer than others.
In the first half of this year, Sanya hotels have received 213,000 visitors, an year-on-year increase of 23.8%. The total income of hotels amounts to RMB 7.06 billion, up 28.3%.
Yao Lei, vice mayor of Sanya, said "International flights to Japan, South Korea, and Russia have opened up a wide market for Sanya’s air travel industry."
