According to China Southern Airlines, flights from other domestic cities to Sanya and Haikou have been booked out during the May Day holiday as tourists flock to the city to enjoy the tropical climate and scenic spots it offers.

China Southern Airlines is expecting to operate 4,000 flights during the 3-day holiday, carrying nearly 550,000 passengers.

Short-distance travel destinations like Sanya, Guilin, Zhangjiajie, Xiamen, Kunming, Lijiang, Dali and Huangshan enjoyed high popularity among tourists.

On April 30th and May 1st, occupancy rates of flights from Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou to Sanya were sold out. The airlines company is suggesting tourists rearrange their travel plans to try to avoid the traditional travel peak period.
