China puts priority on train punctuality during holidays
China’s Ministry of Railways (MOR) said Sunday it will prioritize the punctuality of trains during the upcoming eight-day holiday starting on Sept. 30.
The ministry said in a statement on its website that passengers will mainly travel for sightseeing or family reunions during the Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day holidays, which runs from Sept. 30 to Oct. 7.
Railway authorities at all levels should put their priority on improving trains’ punctuality during the holidays to meet passengers’ demand, the MOR said.
The Mid-Autumn Festival, which falls on Sept. 30 this year, is a significant traditional Chinese holiday that falls in the middle of the autumn season and symbolizes harvest and family reunions.
