Hainan, a prime destination for major int’l golf events
Hainan has long had a reputation as a destination for golfing enthusiasts in Asia. In recent years the golfing industry has grown rapidly. Many of courses are complete high end resorts in themselves, with hotels, restaurants and conference facilities in the same complex.
An increasing number of major international golf events such as the Sanya Ladies Open, the Volvo China Open and the China Amateur Golf Futures Tour have been attracted here, making Hainan as one of the prime destinations in the world.
Indeed, Hainan seems well on course to becoming one of prime destinations for international golf tournaments and events.
Staged in 2010, the Sanya Ladies Open will enter its 3rd year at Yalong Bay Golf Club this November.

Staged in 2010, the Sanya Ladies Open will enter its 3rd year at Yalong Bay Golf Club this November.
The tournament is tri-sanctioned with the Ladies Asian Golf Tour (LAGT) and China Golf Association (CGA) and the field of 114 competitors, which include 55 entrants from the Ladies European Tour, will be pared down to 60 professionals and ties after the 36-hole cut.
In 2011, a total of 114 top golfers from 27 countries and regions all over the world came to Yalong Bay to battle it out for prizes totaling 200,000 euros.

The Omega Mission Hills World Cup officially moved to the Mission Hills Resort on Hainan Island last year.
Open less than two years, Mission Hills Hainan has already established itself as a world-class tournament venue and award-winning holiday destination. Earlier this month, it was named 2012 ‘Golf Resort of the Year’ by the International Association of Golf Tourism Operators (IAGTO).
In 2011, fifty-six players from 28 countries gathered in Haikou to compete for the largest purse in Asian golf, with the winning team receiving $US 2.4 million.
China’s first World Ladies Championship held at Mission Hills Hainan, Haikou
World Ladies Golf Championship (世界女子职业高尔夫球锦标赛)
The inaugural World Ladies Championship (WLC) made debut on the Vintage Course at Mission Hills Hainan this March.
Participants include 108 top-ranked players from the Ladies European Tour (LET), China LPGA Tour, Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA), Korean Professional Ladies Golf Association (KLPGA), Ladies Professional Golfers’ Association of Japan (JLPGA) and Australian Ladies Professional Golf (ALPG).
The 2013 World Ladies Championships will be held at Mission Hills Haikou from March 3rd to 7th.
