Wuzhizhou Island

Located at Haitang Bay north of Sanya City, Wuzhizhou Island is rapidly gaining popularity as a tourist destination in Sanya. Aside from lovely white sand beaches and sparkling blue waters, it’s one of the top destinations for visitors because it offers plenty of facilities and seafood restaurants. You’ll find a full range of aquatic activities such as diving, sightseeing, snorkeling, off shore fishing, water skiing, yachting, windsurfing, motor boats and banana boats, kayaks, para gliding, beach volleyball, beach soccer.

 

West Island

 

  

West Island is the largest of a series of small islands off Sanya, boasting crystal clear waters with a wide array of marine life and extensive coral reefs to explore.

 

Para-sailing, jet-skiing, and four-wheeling on beach ATVs are all available to test your mettle. Take a break in the shade of the coconut trees, enjoy the tropical breeze, and savor the freshest of seafood at one of the island’s restaurants. West Island has something for everyone.

 

In addition to water sports, visitors to West Island can enjoy salt-water pool, camping and barbecue facilities, or test their aim on archery range. Diving instructors are internationally (PADI) certified, and offer a full range of equipment for rental. Scuba excursions are available from shore or by boat.

 

As the island is 8 miles off the coast, speedboats for the 10 minutes trip to West Island depart regularly from Sanya Harbor are available morning to evening.

 

Monkey Island

 

  

Once you are bored with Sanya’s sand beaches and water sports, another unique island in this area that will delight both young and old is Monkey Island. There are more than just cute macaque monkeys to discover here, nearly 400 types of tropical plants and almost 100 types of animals thrive on this island.

 

Some of them have been trained to entertain visitors with lively tricks and acrobatic and some are domesticated and live in the monkey viewing area, where you can even play with them with the help of the guides who teach you how to communicate with the macaques.

 

Trip to the island is followed by scenic cable car rides to the mountain past some lovely scenery of sea and unusual rock formations to reach the protected monkey sanctuary, where several thousand macaques live.

 

The activities of the macaque monkeys would at times leave you wondering whether you are indeed in a nature reserve or a circus.
