Many famous domestic tourist attractions will raise their ticket prices from 20% to 40% for the upcoming May Day holiday, while scenic spots promise not to raise ticket prices and will initiate a variety of attractive and eye-catching special features during the holiday period.
The Director of the Sanya Tourism Development Commission, Zhou Chunhua, said that Sanya, in its efforts to eliminate a ticket-site-earned economy, has promoted many new tourism products including marine tourism, forest tourism, cultural tourism, shopping tourism and cruise and yacht tourism.
At the Tianyahaijiao Scenic Spot, the admission fee for students, children between 1.2 and 1.4 meters and people aged 60 to 70 is half-price. Besides, media journalists with their press cards, soldiers, children below 1.2 meters and people over 70 years old can enter for free.
According to a price table published by the Sanya Commodity Price Control Bureau, the prices of half of the city’s hotel rooms are under 1,000 per yuan night during the May Day holiday and the lowest room rate in the city during the holiday period is 90 yuan per night.
For the upcoming May Day holidays, the Sanya government will increase its efforts to monitor the tourism market in an attempt to prevent any unreasonable price hikes that could further burden consumers.
