Sanya tops China’s most popular destinations for 2014 New Year holiday
Many tourists from cold states and regions are sunbathing at the Dadonghai beach of Sanya.
According to the booking data from Ctrip.com, with its warm winter climate and charming island sceneries, the tropical coastal tourist city of Sanya has taken the top spot among the top ten popular domestic destinations for the 2014 New Year holiday.
Following Sanya were Xiamen, Harbin, Lijiang, Beijing, Xi’an, Shanghai, Chengdu, Changbai Mountain and Xishuangbanna.
60% of the bookings for inbound and outbound tourism during the New Year holiday come from visitors who take a single day off to enjoy a six-day patchwork holiday with three-day New Year holidays and two weekend days, which they call a ‘small Golden Week’, with December 28th and 29th being the hottest travel period.
In addition, the top ten popular destinations for outbound tourism include Hong Kong, Seoul, Taipei, Tokyo, Singapore, Bangkok, Phuket, Osaka, Hawaii and Kuala Lumpur.
