March to September is considered the traditional off season for the Sanya tourism market. However, the wedding tourism market is experiencing a boom in busniess. A series of wedding products with Sanya characteristics have attracted a lot of couples for their wedding celebrations.

Since 2010, Sanya’s wedding tourism market has enjoyed rapid growth. The total consumption relating to wedding photography, group and individual as well as honeymoon expenses exceeded 500 million yuan in 2011.

Incomplete statistics showed that the number of wedding celebrations in the city reached over 600 last year.

Facing huge demand, Sanya Tourism Development Commission launched a summer tourism promotional campaign for weddings and honeymoons last year and took its wedding brand to many mainland cities to promote the city as a wedding paradise.

As Sanya has tremendous potential for wedding tourism, a variety of themed wedding products covering cruises, diving, yachting, churches, helicopter trips, sunset beach, rainforests, ethnic culture and hot springs are on offer to attract a wide range of wedding groups.

Enterprises and hospitality also draw up detailed and special wedding packages to enrich the Sanya destination wedding market.

Many 5-star hotels also have personnel dedicated exclusively to handling wedding celebrations for tourists as wedding receptions are significant revenue earners.

There are nearly 300 professional wedding photography companies in the city and 90% of them cater mainly for domestic tourists. Several large wedding planning companies have also opened branches in Sanya.
