According to Sanya Tourism Development Commission, the government has earmarked 3 million yuan for an advertising fund which concentrates on healthcare tourism for the Russian tourist market in 2013.

In recent years, Russia has become one of the most important overseas tourist source markets. Since 2005, the Hainan government has opened chartered flights to 13 major Russian cities including Moscow and St Petersburg. The city’s warm climate all year round and its unique tropical flavor are hugely popular among Russian tourists.

The government will also cooperate with the BBC Russian Channel to promote its unique tropical tourism products to the Asian region.

We are hoping that local travel agents, the hospitality industry, scenic spots, restaurants and healthcare fields can join hands to make greater efforts to expand the Russian market, said Tang Sixian, Vice Director of the Sanya Tourism Development Commission
 Mr. Tang also mentioned that hot springs, tropical rural tourism and ethnic culture tourism will be further developed to meet the diverse travel demands of Russian tourists.
