Sanya named most popular domestic tourist destination for New Year holidays

Sanya is the mst popular domestic tourist destination in China for the upcoming New Year holidays, according to ctrip.com, China’s largest online travel portal.

Sanya, a tropical tourist city in Hainan Province, remains the most popular place for holidaymakers, followed by Xiamen, Lijiang, Guilin, Kunming, Chengdu, Harbin, Beijing, Xi’an and Shanghai.

Meanwhile, Hong Kong came out on top as the most popular outbound tourist destination, followed by Macao, Seoul, Bangkok, Singapore, Taipei, Phuket, Bali, Cambodia and Jeju.

According to the Xiamen Tourism Bureau, a total of 1,429,300 inbound tourists stayed overnight in the city from January to November this year, up 24.54% year on year.
