Sanya to regulate one-day-tour services
Authorities will be performing checks at airports, railways, bus stations and scenic spots where tourists are often offered brochures promoting illegal one-day-tour services.
The campaign will mainly target the illegal tour ad distributors on the streets and unqualified drivers and tour guides hired by the unlicensed travel organizations. These unregistered companies often trick tourists into booking one-day tours, which disrupts the legitimate individual tour market.
According to the new regulations, those caught committing violations will be issued a warning, fined and may be detained by the police.
The campaign will run until next march. Authorities are encouraging tourists to report any tour ads distributors and organizations suspected of operating the one-day-tour businesses illegally, by calling the tourism complaint hotline 12345.
