The 2012 China & Russia Tourism Enterprises Communication Conference was held at the Kempinski Hotel in Haitang Bay, Sanya on November 18th.
 
More than 200 scholars, government officials and representatives of tourism enterprises attended the meeting to discuss and exchange views on further cooperation between Russia and China to promote tourism.
 
The conference was one of a series of 200 culture and tourism activities organized for the Sino-Russian Tourism Year 2012. 
 
Wang Yang, Vice Secretary of the Hainan Government addressed the event and welcomed its participants and the media. He said Hainan is one of the most popular destinations in China for Russian tourists. In 2011, the island welcomed 220,000 tourists from Russia. 
 
 
He added that Hainan and Russia have enjoyed more frequent and closer communications in recent years. Currently, Hainan has opened regular and chartered flights to 13 major cities in Russia, offering greater convenience for Russian tourists to enjoy their Hainan trips.
 
On the afternoon, 15 travel enterprises based in Hainan, Yunnan and Russia at the conference have signed a number of key cooperation agreements on chartered flights, tour guides training and developing tourist products.
