Luhuitou Park in Sanya
Luhuitou (Deer Turns Back), 6 km southwest from Sanya, is a mountain which get its name from its looks like a deer turning back. The moutain is set up as Luhuitou Park with a area of 82.88 hectare in 1989. It is near Dadonghai.
The Deer Turns Back Park is noted for it excellent location where the moutain top offers a view of sunrise and sunset on sea, as well as a bird’s eye sight of downtown Sanya. It is also a natural ecological forest of tropical plants in precious species.
Luhuitou, the name of the mountain, was borne with a a moving love folklore. Once upon a time, a young hunter of Li ethnic group was forced by a greedy tyrant to go hunting for pilose antler. On his way, the hunter saw that a leopard was chasing after a fair dear. He shot the leopard by bow arrows. And then he followed up the deer for a long time to the Coral Cliff where is no way to go ahead. When he was about to shot, the dear turned back and magically changed into a beautiful girl who fell in love with him at a first tender sight. They became a pefect couple of marriage.
Helped by the deer girl, the hunter defeated the greedy tyrant. Then they settle down near the Coral Cliff and stated a peaceful and happy life. After generations, a beatiful manor was set up there by the hunter’s family.
Sanya is also called Deer City for romantic love story happened on Deer Turns Back. Now the Luhuitou Park is entitled as the garden of ecology and love. There you can enjoy the performance of Li ethnic singing and dance. The Coral Cliff is sacred place for young people to express love.
