Bus IC card system comes into service across Haikou City
Residents in Haikou have been able to choose bus IC cards to use on buses since May 22nd, 2011. At present, Haikou is the only city to promote IC bus cards in Hainan province, reports hinews.cn.
As a part of the efffort to construct Hainan into an Information Intelligent Island, the bus IC card system is believed to vastly improve people’s life.
In the first batch of IC cards, the Haikou public transport system is offering ordinary cards, commemorative cards and preferential treatment cards in different styles for passengers to choose from.
The cost of an ordinary card is 50 yuan (including 30 yuan as deposit) and 500 yuan per commemorative card.
To offer a more convenient service to people in Haikou to buy IC cards and get bus card recharge service, the HNA Group Company has started 16 bus card recharge service outlets across the city including in China Everbright Bank and China Unicom.
In addition, the IC bus cards with functional purposes can be used for shopping, entertainment, hotels, flights and petrol refill.
