Tourist attractions to explore in Chengmai
Take a short trip around Chengmai County and you will find yourself surrounded by the geography and cultural influence of the particular peoples living there.
Chengmai County lies on the northwestern side of Hainan, overlooking the Qiongzhou Strait, and near to Hainan’s capital city, Haikou. Chengmai County is one of the three oldest counties in Hainan with history dating back 2,122 years.
Recognized as the ‘world longevity area’ by the United Nations, the county is known in Hainan for its clean air, pure water and selenium-rich agricultural products. Large areas of the county are covered by forest.
There are a number of well known tourist spots located in the county such as Yongqing Temple, Jialongping Monsoon Forest Zone and Mangrove Tree Wetland.
What’s more, dozens of local snacks, including Fushan coffee and Fushan roast suckling pig, will satisfy tourists’ appetite.

Jinshan Temple 金山寺
Jinshan Temple(金山寺) is located in the southeast of Chengmai County. It faces the sea and the mountain with beautiful scenery. Jinshan Temple is one of the largest Buddhist temples in Hainan Province. There are altogether 42 golden statues inside the temple and the carving on them is exquisite and distinctive.
Yongqing Temple永庆寺
Yongqing Temple lies in the west of Yingbin Peninsula of Chengmai County. It was built in the Northern Song Dynasty and is the largest Buddhist temple in the northern Hainan.
The ancient Yongqing Temple enjoys a loud prestige not only for its Buddhist significance, but also for its picturesque surroundings with sunshine, sea, sand, blossoms and greenery.

Jialongping Tropical Monsoon Forest Tourism Zone 加笼坪热带季雨林旅游区
Jialongping Tropical Monsoon Forest Tourism Zone is one of the many well-preserved tropical forests in Hainan.There are numerous waterfalls and streams scattered in the forest inhabited with little creatures such as crabs, small fish and so on. Every now and then, you can see beautiful butterflies flying over your head.
At the same time you can watch the spiders weaving their webs and hear the singing of certain insects. Winding through the forest, you can take a rest often as there are stone benches placed there by the locals or you can wash your sweating face in the water ponds to get rid of your fatigue.
Mangrove Bay Wetland 红树林湿地公园
The Mangrove Bay Wetland covers an area of 1.47-square-kilometers and features many entertainment options.
The wetland offers 7 recreational areas, including a 4.2-km-long timber boardwalk, a mangrove wetland museum, a scenic restaurant and an amusement park for families, as well as other environmental education facilities.
Visitors can have a look at the mangroves that grow in swamps and other aquatic plants, as well as animals like flamingos, which are not native to Hainan, and many other kinds of birds.
Fushan Coffee Town 福山风情咖啡镇
Fushan Coffee Town is one of the earliest developed scenery towns in Chengmai, and is also one of the largest coffee growing areas on Hainan Island.
Coffee arrived in Hainan in 1935 when Indonesian-Chinese Chen Xianzhang brought the first robusta coffee seeds from Indonesia and introduced coffee customs and farming in the Fushan Town of Chengmai County.
The coffee cultural town features a coffee trading center, a coffee utensils street, and coffee-themed hotels and museums, offering tourists a one-stop world-class coffee, food and folk customs destination.
