The Department of Culture Radio Television Publication and Sports of Hainan Province announced on August 21 that Hainan Province plans to integrate resources in Baoting, Baisha, Qiongzhong, Wuzhishan, Tunchang and Ding’an to build a central cultural tourism green belt involving ecological culture, culture of Miao and Li nationalities, mountain sports and rural culture, and to promote the integration and development of central cultural tourism.

According to the Industrial Development Office of the Department of Culture, Radio, Television, Publication, and Sports of Hainan Province the above six cities and counties in central Hainan are natural scenic regions for ecological and cultural tourism, thanks to a beautiful ecological environment, breathtaking mountains, fresh air, birdsong, and flowers. There are 22 ecological and cultural scenic areas under construction or expansion, including Maogan Ecological Tourism Area in Baoting, Butterfly Ecological Gardens in Wuzhishan, cliff inscriptions cluster in Shijie Village in Qiongzhong, Hongkan Waterfall Scenic Area in Baisha and Hongdoupo Egret Park in Tunchang.

The integration of tourism resources will be carried out according to the principles of gradient propulsion, market orientation and participation of locals, and will reinforce cultural tourism.

According to the plan, the Departments of Culture and Sports in Hainan Province will visit the central areas to explore and understand the local ethnic culture, folk customs and traditional skills of the Li and Miao nationalities, including traditional architecture, costumes, religion, arts, food and medicines, and will introduce some new sports events, as well as promote mountain sport tourism in order to support the construction of Wuzhishan National Physical Training Center and Tunchang Musehu Mountain Bike Cycling Park. This will further promote the social influence of mountain sports tourism in central Hainan.
