As of December 12, the passenger throughput of Haikou Meilan International Airport (HMIA) once again hit 10 million after the first time on December 26, 2011, which officially make it a regional hub airport.

These achievements of Haikou Meilan Airport can be attributed to a series of preferential policies issued by the central government as well as the provincial government, such as 26 visa-free entry policy for 26 countries, financial supports, low-altitude airspace management reform and tax refund and offshore duty-free policies.

With the support of the government, HMIA has added 33 flights to 12 destination cities and has established cooperation with 30 domestic and international airline companies this year.

Besides, various kinds of high-end forums, conferences and sporting activities are held in Haikou, which bring a huge number of domestic and international passengers and tourists to the air industry and tourism industry of the city.
