From January to July, Hainan received 18.019 million domestic and overseas tourists, up 7.67% from the same period of last year. The tourism revenue in the period totaled 24.045 billion yuan, according to the tourism commission.

  
During the period of January to July, Hainan saw a total of 458,600 overseas tourist arrivals, a year-on-year increase of 6.22%.

However, the number of tourists from Asian countries like Japan and South Korea and Russia, the first largest overseas tourist market in Hainan have also shown a slightly decline.

Over the past 7 months, Hainan received 17,560,400 domestic tourists, up 5.69%from the same period of last year.

The Hainan government is working out feasible proposals for the tourism development in Sansha. Tourist cruises from Haikou to Sansha might be launched by the end of this year to bring more visitors to the islands.
