The number of international tourists to Hainan has been increasing every year since the visa-free policy took effect in August 12 last year.
As of October, the total number of international tourists to the island reached 85,093, up 41.1% over the previous same period.
Similarly, tourism revenues have also been growing dramatically by the increased number of tourists. Revenues from January to June totaled 15.33 billion yuan, a 10.4% year on year increase, according to the provincial government.
To facilitate the international travel business in Hainan, tourists from 26 countries are able o enjoy the visa-free policy.
The 26 countries are Japan, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, South Korea, the Philippines, Indonesia, Germany, Britain, France, Austria, Italy, Russia, Switzerland, Sweden, Spain, the Netherlands, the United States, Canada, Australia and New Zealand, Finland, Denmark, Norway, Ukraine and Kazakhstan.
Meanwhile, the tourists, mainly from Russia, the ROK and Germany may enjoy the visa-free policy as long as they travel in groups of two or more and plan to stay in China for a maximum of 21 days ahead of their scheduled departure date.
