New duty-free store to open at Haikou Meilan International Airport on June 1

A new duty-free store located at Haikou Meilan International Airport will start its trial operation from June 1, 2011, according to the local authorities.
The new duty-free store, named Island Duty Free, is jointly operated by Hainan Province State-owned Assets Supervision and HNA Group, an independent Hainan-based company.
The store, covering an area of about 2,200 sqm, is divided into A and B area.
Besides, Heinemann Asia Pacific, the Singapore-based subsidiary of German travel retailer Gebr Heinemann will be the only supplier for these duty free stores in Hainan.
Statistics released by Meilan Airport show that in 2010 the airport's passenger volume reached 8.77 million, an increase of 4.6%. The duty free store in Haikou will have a huge business and might also attract some tourists from Sanya Duty Free store.
