Due partly to its excellent marina facilities and strong sailing heritage, Sanya Serenity Marina was awarded the “2017 Best China Marina Award” at the recent 13th Asia Boating Awards, held in Singapore.

The annual Asia Boating Awards were created in 2005 by two Asian boating magazines: Asia-Pacific Boating and China Boating. The annual event recognizes outstanding service providers and other players in the maritime industry in Asia.

Sanya Serenity Marina is widely recognized as the best professional sailing marina in China. It not only provides excellent boat mooring facilities but also a combination of marine culture and entertainment facilities. It has twice been selected as the Asian stopover for the Volvo Ocean Race — first in the 2011-12 race and then again in the 2014-15 event.

This year, Sanya Serenity Marina will host two large-scale sailing events: the 2017 Youth Sailing World Championships, and the 2017 Clipper Round the World Yacht Race. The events will help bolster Sanya’s image as an international sailing destination and further advance the city’s strategy of combining sports and tourism as part of its long-term development plan.
