Hainan’s Wanning may become fixed site to hold ASP world tour event
Wanning, a city in south China's Hainan province, will hold international surfing festival every year and the 2011 Association of Surfing Professional (ASP) world tour event, according to the cooperation agreement signed by Wanning Municipal government and ASP here on Saturday.
The ASP was also considering Wanning as a fixed site to hold the world tour event.
To launch international surfing festival annually will promote the development of surfing sport and culture in Hainan as well as the reputation of the island over the world.
Wanning plans to build a surfing training base and surfing-themed park in the future as a promotion for the city's tourism.
The ASP was formed in 1982 to protect the interests of professional surfers, with its head offices located in Australia.
The ASP world tour is the highest class of all professional events held by ASP, which consists of 10 events in different surfing spots throughout the world.
