Team Sanya set off today at 1500 on Leg Two of the 2011-12 Volvo Ocean Race. Under near perfect conditions, the Volvo Ocean Race fleet started on time today at 1500 hours local time in Cape Town and, following a short lap around the cans in Cape Bay, headed out to sea with a massive spectator fleet trailing in their wake.

Team Sanya looked to be fast and solid at the start of this second leg and were all smiles as they waved good bye to the fans before their first night at sea.

Mike shared his thoughts ahead of this morning’s departure:

"We are just dying to be out there long enough to get into the full swing of things. I am still amazed at the efforts of all involved over the last few weeks to repair the boat and make all this possible. It really has been something special and shows just what this team is made of.

For Leg Two I am hoping for a good solid leg, for Team Sanya to get some good points on the board and to get properly into race mode to show what this boat and team can deliver. In a way I feel this race is only really starting for us now, this is our opportunity to shine and we are ready to take it on.”
