Recently, Team Sanya is busy taking part in their first race, the Rolex Fastnet Race, which started on 16 August, reports 0898.net.

Sailing from the southern town Cowes of England, they will line up against two other Volvo Ocean Race competitors – the Abu Dhabi and Groupama teams.

Sanya, as one of the popular tourist destinations in Hainan, is using the platform of this team and the Volvo Ocean Race stop-over to raise its international reputation and interest in this exciting venue.

The Team Sanya boat carries an impressive brand identity with multiple colors and image to display the tropical Chinese holiday destination of Sanya.

Teng Jianghe, a sailing enthusiast from Shandong Province, was initially announced by Team Sanya as one of the Chinese sailors for the Volvo Ocean Race 2011-2012.

He has been working with the team for the past week and is the first Chinese sailor to take part in the crew selection trial process.

"I still have three months for preparation. Every day I go to the gym to excises for two and a half hours, and continue to work on board for ten hours. That is what a sailor’s life is before we compete in the Fastnet race,” said Teng.
