In the afternoon of March 8th, the Secretary General of the CCP Sanya Municipal Committee and Knut Frostad, the CEO of the Volvo Ocean Race have exchanged communications on a series of construction works for the Volvo Ocean Race 2011-12, reports xinhuanet.com.

Sanya, as one of the stopover ports for the Volvo Ocean Race 2011-12, has been fully preparing the new port.

At present, the land parts for the constructions including athletes reception center, and commercial facilities are completed. According to the arrangement, the stopover port is estimated to be finished by July.

This offers a good opportunity for Sanya and China as a whole to show the world its marine future as well as its rapid development as the only stopover port in Asia for the Volvo Ocean Race 2011-12, Knut Frostad told the media reporters.

Besides, he also pointed out that the race will serve as a platform to call for more people to show their awareness on ocean protection.
