Sanya municipal government of Hainan province China announced the first Sanya International Ocean Culture Festival would take place on 14th to 18th December, 2010 and this festival would be an international ocean pageant with high standard, high qualification and high grade, in addition, there would be several groups touring along the "Maritime Silk Road” by yachts.
 
This festival is hosted by Sanya municipal government, which is themed with “propagate ocean culture, spread ocean spirit, develop ocean economy, create blue century”. It is reported that the whole activity is divided into five sections: ocean culture, ocean economy, ocean tour, ocean art and beautiful economy.
 
The ocean culture section will put up a platform for the maritime states in the world to seek common sustainable development by hosting ocean culture forum. The ocean economy section aims to set up a platform for the Chinese and foreign merchants to communicate and cooperate with each other by holding ocean products exposition and finally realize interaction and mutual benefit. The beautiful economy section will combines local culture and international culture together, in which some fashion culture, beautiful economy and charities will be added by an International Beauty Pageant. The ocean tour section will make people feel and love the beautiful life, appreciate the ocean world and return to nature by ocean tour promotion activities. The ocean art section will show people the unique charm and splendid history of the ocean culture by a series of activities.
 
This Sanya International Ocean Culture Festival includes the opening ceremony, the closing ceremony, the ocean culture forum, ocean products exposition, ocean tour promotion activity, 2010 First Maritime Silk Road International Beauty Pageant, 2010 First Sanya International Maritime Painting and Calligraphy Show, 2010 First Sanya International Ocean Culture Variety Show and so on.
 
It is reported that there will be more than 500 honored guests, city fathers and experts and scholars from 30 maritime countries in the world attending the festival and it will be an unprecedented international marine pageant.
