Nanwan Monkey Island, Lingshui 南湾猴岛, 陵水

 

Nanwan Monkey Island is located on the Nanwan peninsula in Lingshui county on the south coast of Hainan.

 

Nanwan Monkey Island is the only tropical island-type nature reserve for macaques—a state protected animal in China.

 

The preserve's several thousand monkeys roam free over a manicured park setting with lawns, paths, coconut trees and small ponds. There is also a small stage for a monkey circus show, which tends to be a winner with kids.

Hainan Tropical Wildlife Park, Haikou 海南热带野生动物园, 海口

 

Located at Dongshan Town, Xiuying District in Haikou City, the Hainan Tropical Wildlife Park has more than 4,000 rare birds and 200 animal species living here, some of which are endangered. 

 

Animals here include tigers, tigons, lions, tigers, elephants, bears, giraffes, hippos, ostriches, crocodiles, buffalo, monkeys, elk, deer, and many more.

 

The park gives visitors the opportunity to see animals in a close approximation of their natural habitat. The animals at the park seem fairly free and well looked after.

Hainan Tropical Bird Park, Ding’an 海南热带飞禽世界, 定安

 

Hainan Tropical Bird World, located at the Taling development zone in Ding’an, is said to be the largest of its kind in China. The park boasts 300 types of tropical birds, including many unique Hainan birds.

 

Visitors to the park can also enjoy a 32-meter-long and 3.8-meter-high wall with relief sculptures of nine phoenixes, a rain forest for birds, a desert bird park, and a parrot square.
