Phoenix Park: a place to enjoy stunning panoramic views of Sanya
Phoenix Park, located at the highest point in Sanya at about 400 meters, has the best view of Sanya in the city.
Covering a vast area of 17 square kilometers, the hilltop park has stunning panoramic views of Sanya and the surrounding countryside, from Sanya Bay to Yalong Bay. Additionally, the park has a unique micro-climate and is home to many rare plants and animals.
The park consists of 4 major attractions. They are the Summit Observation Deck, the Air Passenger Ropeway, the Viewing Skybridge and the Rainforest Treks.
Visitors can start their journey at the park with a stunning ropeway ride that glides silently for ten minutes over the hidden valleys and farmland to the peak where they can take in panoramic views of the South China Sea and Yalong Bay.
A two-kilometer raised wooden pathway winds around the hillside forest, with viewing platforms set along the way to protect the park’s fragile ecosystem while letting visitors explore the over 600 indigenous tropical plants and animals. Wild orchids, carnivorous plants and other amazing wildlife reside throughout the park. Besides, this park is particularly worth a visit to catch the spectacular sunsets over Sanya Bay.
Visitors can enjoy a walk at the park’s SkyBridge that lets visitors cross from peak to peak by bridging a mountain canyon, and then walk amid the rainforest canopy, providing an opportunity to view the plants and animals from an entirely new perspective.
Recommended times to visit the park are morning (for breathing fresh air or walking), dusk (for enjoying the sunset), and evening (for romantic night views in Sanya).
